Just because a work of art has succeeded in captivating our hearts does not necessarily mean that its creator deserves our appreciation.”
Reading this quote makes one think about the lives of those whom we have considered to be superhuman, those whom we have given titles such as “the great,” “the immortals,” or “geniuses.” It prompts us to think about how much we do not know about their lives, even though we glorify them and almost equate them with the prophets. We notice the embarrassment of writers and historians to record such facts in public, perhaps because they are embarrassed to mention such things, or because they thought that it would detract from the genius’s value and status.
These thoughts made me wonder: What other things do we not know about their lives? What things have been hidden from us?
