The novel quickly became a critical and popular success, and has been listed as one of the best fantasy books of all time. The novel won the Hugo, Nebula, Locus, Bram Stoker, and other awards, and was adapted into a graphic novel illustrated by P. Craig Russell, a television series, and has been translated into more than thirty languages.
