"Al-Awsaj" is named after the Al-Awsaj tree, which legend has it is a tree under which a tribe of jinn live. It is called the devilish tree in some Arab countries. It may remain just a legend and has nothing to do with reality, but here it was used in a way that serves the idea of the novel. The novel Al-Awsaj is different from the style of the rest of the previous publications of the writer Al-Jawhara Al-Rimal. The hero of the novel is a man, Gibran, who was afflicted with a curse that made him suffer from insomnia and pushed him every time to choose a victim to kill in order to enjoy a peaceful sleep for months. His first victim is his mother, until Kamad, a jinn from the Ghilan tribe known for its sovereignty and strength, appears to guide him to the Al-Awsaj tree so that he can get rid of this curse.
